The new 86,000 square foot, LEED Platinum science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) facility at the Mary Institute and Saint Louis Country Day School, embodies the schools commitment to "changing lives, changing the world" through high quality education in a sustainable, diverse and globally minded environment.
The lighting design supports a wide range of applications, ranging from high-tech labs, formal and casual collaboration spaces, and signature assembly spaces. The architectural vision of natural and artificial lighting are blended together to create state of art, dynamic learning environments in tune with todays technological and environmental challenges.
The key to creating synergy in these learning environments was to design a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere that promotes learning through critical student interaction. Daylight responsive, digitally addressable lighting controls provide unprecedented energy savings and occupant control flexibility.
